Kind Stranger Comforts Baby Rabbit

There is life. There is death. In between, there is living and there is dying. Typically, when we discuss pet funerals and pet eulogies we focus on the loss, the absence, the end of life. Sadly, before death, there is the act of dying, which for many animals can be a prolonged, painful, and heartwrenching process. Witnessing that process is not easy for pet owners, and people understandably hide the process of dying from young children and even avoid it themselves if they can. We’re only human, after all.

Shared Experiences & Time

Animal lovers represent the best of human nature – and all of nature in general. Sometimes the most dramatic events in life are very quiet, and dying is often one of them. The poor young Appalachian rabbit in this video seems so quiet, reserved, and perhaps sad knowing what was happening in him – and to him. There is so much beauty in this video, however. For a moment – in fact, the brief time captured int his video – this little rabbit was loved and cared for by a stranger, a human being. That shared sliver of time will always bond these two life forces.

Pet Adoption & Pet Parenting

Being a pet parent simply means making a commitment to care for and consequently develop a meaningful relationship with an animal. In this case, the kind man in this video adopted a pet rabbit for a fleeting breath of time; the most profound piece of time for this little rabbit. This young animal didn’t die alone and maybe could feel the sincere concern and loving presence of the person who looked over his final moments on earth.

The Kindness of Strangers

“Is your mom around somewhere?” – Kind Stranger

We will never know the answer to this question. But we do know that mom would be thankful that this man found her baby during its last moments on earth.
