Pets Elevate Our Humanity

Animals are increasingly being perceived and treated as valuable and equal members of our families. This welcome evolution of the traditional family is a turning point for the relationship between people and pets, people and animals, and people and nature. And frankly, it’s long overdue.

Human empathy and sympathy are not only for our fellow humans. The death of a pet or beloved animal needs to be addressed with the same sense of loss, ritual, and recognition that we have traditionally reserved for human beings. Human beings are at their best when we display kindness and love other living things on earth, especially our pets.

For many human beings, in fact, pets serve as a gateway to a larger world filled with animals, nature, and empathy for other living creatures. Pets love us unconditionally and, as a result, people see themselves in a different, more loving way – which is something our world needs more of during times when people feel less connected to others and the universe. Pets are a conduit to the best aspects of humanity.

The love of a pet improves our emotional lives and sense of worth to the universe. After all, when a boss, a friend, or a family member takes us for granted or – even worse – makes us feel less than valuable to society, it is often our pets that remind us of our true value and ability to contribute meaning and goodness to the planet during our time on earth. Pets, like people, are nature in action. And pets connect human nature to the blessings of the natural world in ways we cannot do ourselves.

Pet Eulogies is a community, resource, and platform dedicated to pets and the positive impact animals have on our lives, families, and communities. By celebrating pets that have enhanced our quality of life while here on earth, we hope to raise awareness for animal rights and appreciation. These stories will hopefully help connect animal lovers and inspire them to share their own stories, experiences, and advice for others based on their personal pet relationships and memories. Welcome.
